Mouse

Mouse is Hamlet’s older sister. She was born on (or around) April 1st, 2004. We’re pretty sure that her breed is Russian Blue and most likely something else.

Mouse’s History

Mouse was 8 weeks old when we adopted her at PetSmart from an animal rescue group named C.L.A.W.S (which stands for Cats Lives Are Worth Saving.) She was originally named Bento before we adopted “him” on May 29th, 2004. In July, we took Mouse to our local vet clinic for “him” to be neutered. Our veterinarian later called to inform us that he (Mouse) couldn’t be neutered but that she (Mouse) could be spayed! Good thing we named her something that could be a boy or a girl!

Mouse was a little afraid of her first dog, D.O.G. (pronounced Dee-O-Gee) but she learned to love him and they had quite a few adventures together before he left us in October of 2006. Mouse was pretty lonely but she enjoyed being the only “child” for awhile!

The day we brought Hamlet home Mouse was not a happy camper. Her quiet life was turned upside down by a wild and crazy dog. She couldn’t make a move without him chasing her. High spaces were the safest place for her so she began hanging out in the nook above the TV or on the pool table when Hamlet was around. She had been used to sleeping on the bed with us before Hamlet came along so we took turns sleeping with her in the guest room or living room for about a month. Now Hamlet and Mouse have finally become friends and sleep on our bed together. We had to get a king size bed so that we could all fit comfortably!

Mouse and Hamlet like to travel in the car together, hang out in the back yard and sometimes Mouse will attack or chase Hamlet! They are great pals and they bring joy to each day for us!

Mouse’s Accomplishments

Mouse can sit up for snackies (when she wants to) but her favorite thing is to catch them in mid air or chase them across the floor.

Mouse has made two cross country trips from California to Maryland - her favorite part of the trip is going through the mountains of Utah and Arizona, just east of Nevada.

She can easily jump up to the height of an average door frame.
