About Hamlet
Hamlet was born on (or around) December 25th, 2005. We believe that he is a mix of Old English Sheepdog and Irish Wolfhound but nothing can be said for sure. We attempted to have his breed determined by DNA analysis, but he was a mystery to them as well.

Hamlet’s History
On June 24th, 2006 - we went to our local PetSmart (Find a PetSmart Store near you) to get our cat (Mouse) some toys. Unbeknownst to us, it was adoption day for our local rescue organization “Halfway to Home.” When we saw Hamlet, we immediately thought that he was very cute. We got to know him a little by getting him out of his crate. He was very energetic and we pretty much fell in love with him right away. We decided to adopt him but we were told that another family had already met Hamlet and brought their other dog to meet him. So we had to go home and wait for the other family to decide if they wanted Hamlet. We completed the paperwork prior to leaving just in case the other family didn’t want him.

We thought about Hamlet for the next couple of days. It seemed like he was delivered to us by fate since we had always been involved with theater and he was named Hamlet. For the next week, we waited to hear from Halfway to Home.
On the 25th of June, Halfway to Home called us and told us that we could adopt Hamlet. We went that afternoon to finalize the adoption paperwork but weren’t able to take Hamlet home due to a work commitment. Since we would need to leave Hamlet alone at the house for long periods of time for the next week we didn’t think it would be a good start for him since he had some abandonment issues. So the Halfway to Home people kept Hamlet a little while longer and we picked him up the following Saturday on the 1st of July.
We picked up our new ball of energy and brought Mouse (our cat) her new toy. It was rough for a few months but with lots of love, patience and training (for all of us) he soon turned into the perfect companion.
